People, partnerships and power
Building alliances for urban sustainability transitions

16-17 June 2016, Dresden (Germany)

Are you looking for new ideas, contacts and methods to help you change your city?

We invite you to join more than 100 urban changemakers from across Europe and come to Dresden for the fifth edition of the Informed Cities Forum.

The event will gather a mix of local government representatives, researchers, local activists and artists, educators and entrepreneurs, experts and policy specialists, allowing for rich learning experience and exciting debates. In this edition our focus will be on addressing some of the most pressing questions when it comes to urban sustainability transitions:

  • How to increase the pace of change and yet leave no one behind?
  • How to find (and keep!) allies and where to look for them?
  • How to bridge different worldviews and deal with conflicts?

The 2-day programme will include a set of field workshops, designed to bring you together with local transition initiatives, as well as opportunities to interact with leading researchers and practitioners working in the field of sustainability transitions. We will also give you a chance to explore Dresden’s exciting cultural scene, connecting with local artists and activists.
This year’s edition will take place in Dresden, a city that had to constantly rebuild itself following political and natural crises. This would not be possible without the determination, resourcefulness and commitment of its citizens who – also literally, for example through their efforts to install 79 decentralized renewable power plants – power Dresden’s socio-ecological transformation. And since Dresden is home to one of Europe’s biggest grassroots food cooperatives, it’s not only food for thought that you can expect!

Participation is free of charge and limited funds are available for travel reimbursement.

Registration will open in November 2015, for more information please contact us at informed-cities@iclei.org or visit informed-cities.iclei-europe.org.

We welcome ideas and suggestions concerning the programme of the event. If you would like to contribute to the event, please get in touch with us to discuss your ideas.
